CREATE A COMMUNITY BASED FUNDRAISING PROGRAM

You and your family and friends can help support life-saving cancer research at City of Hope by organizing unique PINK fundraising events in your community.

Here are some idea starters:

  • Set up a PINK lemonade stand with the kids, with simple handmade “Who do you PINK for?”
signage. Be sure the kids ask each customer who they PINK for!

  • Start a “Pounds for Hope” program in your neighborhood or office. Ask friends and relatives to pledge a donation by the pound for your weight-loss effort over 2 to 3 months. Go for that bonus for reaching your goal!

  • Is there a cheerleader in the family? Encourage them to create a “Cheer for Hope” program at school. Pick a special game, and ask friends and family to contribute a certain dollar amount per routine.

  • Getting married? Tell your friends you want a “Who Do You PINK for?” shower, where guests donate money in lieu of gifts. Theme the shower in pink—pink cookies, pink drinks, pink flowers, etc.

  • Having a birthday? Call it a PINKday and request that in lieu of gifts, people bring contributions to City of Hope in honor of someone they PINK for.

  • Do your kids play on sports teams? Designate a PINK game, and have friends and family sponsor your child’s accomplishments (e.g. donate every time they kick the soccer ball, shoot the basketball, tackle someone in football, get a point in tennis, etc.)

  • Time to clear out that garage? Stage the Ultimate PINK Garage Sale with several neighbors and SELL SELL SELL!

  • Encourage your kids to get “A’s for Hope”…ask aunts, uncles and grandparents to pledge a donation based on the number of “A’s” earned on each report card.

"HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP" WORKSHEET

Asking for help can be tremendously difficult for people going through chemotherapy and / or other cancer treatments. If you or your someone you know is struggling to keep up with daily activities — like grocery shopping, walking a dog, and taking kids to after school activities—download this worksheet, fill out your specific needs, and email it to friends and family who have graciously said, “Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.”
